5.1.3. Removal, check and installation of the thermostat

Removal of the thermostat can adversely affect cooling of the engine therefore do not remove the thermostat if in it there is no need.

Components of installation of the thermostat

1 — the D/V Socket No. 2 ECT
2 — the Reception branch pipe
3 — Laying
4 — the Thermostat

5 — Protection of an electrical wiring of the engine
6 — the Sealing ring
7 — the Giving OZh tube


  1. Empty the cooling system (see the Section Replacement of the Cooling Liquid (CL)).
  2. Remove assembly of the air cleaner (see the Section Removal and installation of the air cleaner).
  3. Disconnect protection of an electrical wiring of the engine against a reception branch pipe and against the right number of cylinders.
  4. Turn out a bolt and disconnect the giving OZh tube from a reception branch pipe and from the left number of cylinders. Remove a sealing ring of a tube.
  5. Give three nuts and remove a reception branch pipe and the thermostat. Remove laying from the thermostat.
  6. Lower the thermostat in the heated water and check temperature of opening of its valve – it has to make 80 ÷ 84th hail.

Temperature of opening of the thermostat is beaten out on its case.

  1. Continuing to heat water, check valve shift size from its initial situation – at a temperature of 95 a hail. the valve has to be displaced not less, than on 10 mm.
  1. Make sure of completeness of closing of the valve of the thermostat at a temperature of 40 a hail.
  2. If at least one of checks is not undergone, replace the thermostat
  1. Establish new laying of the thermostat and level its valve with the top hairpin with a margin error no more 15th hail.
  1. Install the being removed components as it should be, the return to an order of their dismantle. Use a new sealing ring of the giving OZh tube, tighten fixture with the required efforts.
