7.3.4. Check of system of a charge

Remember that failure of the generator is not the only possible cause of infringement of serviceability of functioning of system of a charge. At identification of signs of system failure execute the following checks:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the output tension of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off engine, - the result of measurement has to make about 12 Century.
  1. Check charging chain without loading. For this purpose disconnect a wire from the plug B of the generator and connect this wire to the negative probe of the ampermeter. Connect positive probes of the ampermeter and the voltmeter to the generator plug B. Connect the negative probe of the voltmeter to the mass of the car. Start the engine and, having increased turns with single to 2000 rpm, consider indications of measuring devices and compare them to requirements of Specifications of the Head Sistema of electric equipment of the engine.
  1. If tension is higher than admissible, replace tension regulator (on the L3B generator) or assembly of a winding (on the SC1 generator).
  1. If tension of the L3B generator is lower than admissible, check the generator and the regulator of tension. For this purpose at the grounded plug F start the engine and check tension on the plug B. If tension is higher than admissible, replace tension regulator. If tension is lower than admissible, check the generator.
  1. Check charging chain without loading. For this purpose at the engine working for 2000 rpm turn on driving beam of headlights and turn on the heater fan in the HI mode. Measure the current of the generator and compare it to requirements of Specifications of the Head Sistema of electric equipment of the engine. If the measured value below of admissible, repair the generator.

Indications of the ampermeter can be below admissible value if the battery is completely charged.

  1. At excess by the output tension of the upper bound of admissible range it is necessary to make replacement of the regulator of tension.
  2. Wear of brushes of the generator, weakening of brush springs, failure of the regulator, failure of the diode, break of a winding, and also damage of rings of a collector can be the reason of excessive understating of tension. The condition of brushes and collector rings can be checked visually, - in the absence of obvious damages the generator should be removed from the car (see the Section Removal and installation of the generator) for more detailed check and recovery repair / replacement.
